Nicky & Simon – Stanwell House, Lymington

June 15, 2009

Nicky & Simon chose Stanwell House, in Lymington, Hampshire for both their ceremony and reception. Stanwell House is a delightful independent boutique hotel in the heart of Lymington, about ten minutes walk from my house. Being so close meant that I could spend some time during the day, but also easily return in the evening for a few extra shots. The slide show below provides a selection of pictures from the day and should give you a ‘feel’ for the event. Bright sunshine, good food and a super venue, who could ask for more. More details of Stanwell House can be found in the suppliers section

Robert Milton and Victoria Crowe, the proprietors, describe Stanwell House through its website as

“… both cosmopolitan and stylish and offers guests a friendly, efficient yet unobtrusive service within a sumptuous and welcoming environment. From lunch on the Terrace, champagne afternoon tea in the Conservatory, a vodka Martini in the Bar, dinner in the Bistro or in our very own Seafood Restaurant or overnight in one of our original and seductive bedrooms, Stanwell House is the perfect escape.”

… and it is. Having shot a recent wedding there, I was well aware of Stanwell House as a great place to eat, but I had no experience of how they are able to transform the space and ambiance to a civil ceremony. The day went without a hitch, the staff were both professional and understanding, especially when it came to timings as the the timings never go quite the plan. The room provided a romantic and intimate backdrop to the day,  and the differing parts of the hotel, especially the stairs and gardens provided a wonderful setting for the guests and pictures. Its a great place and surprisingly well priced for the New Forest.
